Consumer unit upgrades
Replace an ageing fuse box or add capacity for cooking, charging and future plans.
Discuss your project- Planning
- Survey first; power interruption agreed in advance
- Before our visit
- Keep the meter cupboard accessible and list the appliances you plan to add.
A consumer unit that fits your homeA new kitchen, an electric car or a home extension can change what your electrical installation needs. We inspect your existing consumer unit and discuss the equipment you use now and what you may add later. Replacing the whole unit is not always necessary. Sometimes a suitable extension is enough. What we check before quotingWe look at the available space, the existing circuits and the incoming supply. We also check how new wiring can reach the rooms or equipment involved. If your plans require a change to the grid connection, we explain which part needs to be arranged with the grid operator.Replacement of an older fuse boxExtra circuits for larger appliancesProtective devices matched to the installationA clear circuit schedule at handoverPreparing for the workKeep the meter cupboard clear and tell us about equipment that must stay powered. We agree the power interruption before the visit. The quote sets out the unit, the work and any separate cable routes. After installation, we test the affected circuits, explain the switches and leave the cupboard tidy.
Clear agreements before we begin
We describe materials, labour and any separate work in the quote. Wall repairs, painting and changes by the grid operator are only included when explicitly agreed.
